Freedom Scientific's SARA Scanning and Reading Appliance is an affordable and easy-to-use solution for reading a wide variety of printed material, including books, mail, newspapers, magazines, and so much more.

SARA uses the latest in advanced optical character recognition technology to scan text and then read it aloud in crisp, clear speech. SARA automatically stores and remembers the contents of hundreds of thousands of scanned pages.

The blind and deaf-blind have the additional option of reading with the SARA in braille by connecting a braille display to the SARA via its USB port.

Customize a variety of natural male and female voices (in a variety of languages) for your preference of reading voice, speech rate, and volume.

The SARA plays audio books in formats available, including blind-accessible DAISY books from CDs. The SARA also comes with a library of more than 100 classic books.

For the low vision user, SARA can be attached to a computer monitor, providing colorful, large print access to complement speech. You can even change the print type style, color, size, and spacing to fit your needs.
